LECTURE
This week we learnt about adjustment layer and filters in Adobe Photoshop.
Introduction to Photoshop
Adjustment Layer
They are a group of a super useful, non-destructive image editing tools that add colour and tonal adjustments to your image.

Figure 1.1, Adjustment layer in Photoshop

With adjustment layer, you can adjust :
a) brightness / contrast - adjust highlights and shadows
b) level - adjust levels of shadows, midtones, and highlights
c) curves - most precise tool for editing tones
d) exposure - adjust exposure levels with 3 sliders (exposure, offset and gamma)
e) selective colour - selectively modifies the amount of a primary colour without modifying the other colours

Filters
Using filters to edit photos is an essential element of Adobe's graphics editor.

TUTORIAL

Mr. Fauzi showed us some video tutorials about tips of match lighting, adjustment layers, filters and pen tool. I think these are pretty helpful to increase my productivity in editing images. Mr, Fauzi also did a live demonstration of how to edit images in Photoshop.

PRACTICAL

During practical, our task is to edit the final composition we have chosen last week.

Attempt #1

Figure 2.1,1, My first attempt, Week 4 (13/9/2021)

Figure 2.1.2, Adjustment layers, Week 4 (13/9/2021)

I did not make much adjustments on my first attempt. Firstly, I adjusted increased brightness and contrast. Then, I added a warming filter because I wanted to add a vintage touch and observed how it turned out.

Attempt #2

Figure 2.2.1, My second attempt, Week 4 (13/9/2021)

Figure 2.2.2, Adjustment layers, Week 4 (13/9/2021)

This time I played with more adjustment layers. I slightly decreased the saturation and increased the lightness. I also adjusted curves and used warm photo filter. Then, I tried to add vintage paper texture to form some border lines around the fighting fish.

Attempt #3

Figure 2.3,1, My third attempt, Week 4 (13/9/2021)

Figure 2.3.2, Adjustment layer, Week 4 (13/9/2021)

I increased the saturation and decreased the lightness. After that, I adjusted the colour balance by adding more red and blue. Curves were adjusted to increase the contrast. Last but not least, I added a warm filter with a lower density so that it does not appear too yellowish.

FEEDBACK
Sir suggested me to use Week 3 exercise as submission.

I think it is because I slightly over-editing the images. All of my tryouts is either too orange or too magenta. So in my 4th attempt, I decreased the value of adjustments and asked sir to review during the live class. He agreed that my 4th attempt is much better than the previous one, and approved it as my final submission.
